Joy and Cheer…From a Distance This Year

Every year, the holiday season is such a fun time for our Simantel family. We have so many memories from the office, filled with cookie trays, wrapping presents, hanging the big wreath on our building and admiring the tree in our lobby decked out with orange ornaments. And most importantly, for the past 20 years, Simantel has “adopted” local families in need and provided them an unforgettable Christmas. Normally, we’d buy presents for our adopted families, have a gift-wrapping party and deliver all the presents in person. With Simantel’s staff still working from home into 2021, we will not be able to adopt families in our traditional way. But we’ve never missed a year, and 2020 was not going to be the exception.

With so many families struggling financially, medically and emotionally, we decided to make this year’s Adopt-A-Family program the most impactful one yet. Rather than collecting gifts for our adopted families, we collected donations for gift cards — and thanks to the generosity of our employees, we raised enough to adopt 30 families. But it doesn’t stop there. On behalf of our clients, Simantel matched the employee contribution, so we were able to adopt 30 more families. That’s 60 families right here in Central Illinois that will experience the hope and joy of the holiday season.

To our Simantelites, we couldn’t be prouder of your big hearts and your unbelievable generosity. And to our clients, we’d like to thank you for working with Simantel, enabling us to provide a happier holiday to so many families in need right here in our back yard.
