Simantel Hosts Election Day Blood Drive
November 2010 - This Election Day, employees headed to the polls … and then to the parking lot.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 2, Simantel hosted a mobile blood drive. The event, held in conjunction with the American Red Cross Heart of America Blood Services Region, gave employees a chance to show their patriotism and to support a worthy cause.
According to the Red Cross, someone in America needs a blood transfusion every 2 seconds. Meanwhile, just one pint of blood can save three lives.
Knowing that helped motivate designer Josh Butler to roll up his sleeve. “I felt really good for the rest of the day. I knew I was helping people,” said Josh, a first-time blood donor. “I would give again, for sure.”
About 80 percent of all blood donations to the Red Cross are collected at mobile blood drives hosted by companies, community groups, schools and churches.
