The Content Production Associate Director manages a team of content producers focused on providing high-volume, cost-effective customer focused assets that can be delivered in a timely manner.

As the Content Production Associate Director, my objective is:

To direct the team producing all forms of content for multiple channels including but not limited to articles, images, ads, video, and print assets for traditional and digital media including email, marketing automation and social channels.

The outcomes I need to produce for clients are:

  • Clients achieve their target outcomes from their work with us
  • Clients feel their budget is used wisely to produce the highest impact for their business with the least investment
  • Clients maintain complete confidence in our ability to deliver quality content at a high volume that’s value driven

The outcomes I need to produce for the agency are:

  • Grow the service line offering (video, digital, design)
  • A team focused on accuracy and speed at a lower cost than our traditional approach
  • Grow the CP team via contracted/freelance writers and designers (content producers) as well as internal hires that have a history and/or skillset in certain industries or products
  • Grow clients that have a need for content production or pure activation at volume
  • Make sure internal and external CP team is set up to deliver successful initiatives

To produce these outcomes, I need to:

  • Work with Client Services on existing client needs to deliver high volume, value driven work
  • Build a team of internal and freelance resources
  • Delegate to and provide direction for writers, editors, designers, developers, project planners etc.
  • Identify companies and projects from current clients that could benefit from the velocity and value that content production or activation brings
  • Partner with other internal teams to define content architecture and content models that support user-centered interfaces and designs that meet client business objectives
  • Build strong relationships with current and new clients
  • Create and implement content production and/or workflows for the agency
  • Develop and train other internal teams especially Account Planners. Clearly define the difference between our traditional offerings and our content production or activation offerings and the advantages of both to help identify potential opportunities and cross selling.
  • Oversee meetings and workshops with clients and internal teams to assess the gap between current and future state content to meet both business goals and audience needs
  • Work with the Executive Director of Service Management and the Associate Director of Client Services to scope, budget, and financially manage my team’s clients for the engagements I manage

The skills and abilities I require are:

  • The ability to manage others, including being the Connected Manager for the Content Production team
  • A strong grasp developing and directing all forms of content
  • Ability to build strong relationships
  • Ability to balance pace and perfection
  • 5+ years’ experience in managing a team and creating traditional and digital content

To produce these outcomes, I have decision-making authority over the following:

  • The creation of our onboarding experience for clients
  • The creation of our client kick-off experience
  • Declining internal requests that do not support our clients’ target outcomes or follow our intake process

Leading indicators of my success are:

  • Client initiatives that are delivered on-time and within budget

Long-Term indicators of my success are:

  • Client growth rate
  • Client retention rate
  • Growth of the internal Content Production team
  • Integration with current internal teams
