The Content Production Project Planner is a fundamental role in the content production department and is key to its overall success. Project Planners should have strong planning abilities and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to create and foster strong relationships internally and externally.

As a Content Production Project Planner, my objective is:

To plan, coordinate and facilitate all forms of content execution for multiple channels, including but not limited to articles, images, ads, video, and print assets for traditional and digital media including email, marketing automation and social channels. I am self-motivated and well-organized, with the ability to take ownership of work, multi-task, and push projects forward. My team is focused on providing high-volume and cost-effective customer-focused assets in a timely manner.


The outcomes I need to produce for clients are:

  • Accurate project estimates and detailed timelines, in coordination with partnering departments, such as Motion Media
  • Clear, timely and detailed project communication
  • Confidence in my ability to manage the projects and deliver on time and on budget
  • Quality content at high volume that’s value driven and achieves clients’ target outcomes

The outcomes I need to produce for the agency are:

  • Define the scope of projects and assign resources to specific tasks
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, freelancers, vendors, and clients
  • Be a positive team player with a willingness to try/learn new things
  • Be an advocate for best practices and process improvements that will lead to growth and strengthening of the content production service line

To produce these outcomes, I need to:

  • Support and partner with the content production strategists and Client Services on existing client needs to deliver high volume, value driven work
  • Delegate to and provide direction for writers, editors, designers, developers, project planners, etc.
  • Create and implement content production processes and workflows
  • Keep in constant communication with all parties involved
  • Fully understand all components and aspects of each project
  • Be detail-oriented and organized with the ability to quickly reprioritize tasks to meet demand
  • Be a team player and open to collaboration
  • Work proactively and efficiently
  • Balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Scope, budget and financially manage all projects under my responsibility

The skills and abilities I require are:

  • 4-year college or university degree, or equivalent experience, in project management (minimum 2 years)
  • The ability to effectively manage others, including internal resources, freelancers, and vendors and to coordinate with client services and clients
  • Empathy and understanding of others’ working styles and approaches
  • A strong grasp developing and directing all forms of content
  • Ability to build strong relationships
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
