What Information Do We Collect
Non-Personal Information May Be Collected Automatically
We do not collect any personally identifiable information about you if you are just browsing our website (www.simantel.com). However, even if you aren’t registered and haven’t signed up for anything, we may automatically collect and store some non-personal bits of information related to your visit and we may use unique (but non-personal) identifiers that allow us to keep track of that information. Unique identifiers are strings of characters that can be used to uniquely identify a browser, app, or device. These identifiers serve a number of useful purposes, including security and fraud detection or remembering your preferences. Many of you may be familiar with the IMEI number of your mobile phone – that’s a unique identifier that is incorporated into your device by the manufacturer.
As a general rule, non-personally identifiable information is information recorded in such a way that it no longer reflects or references an identifiable individual. Examples of non-personally identifiable information we collect can include the type of Internet browser and operating system you are using to visit us, your IP address, the domain of the website you came from (sometimes called a referring URL), how many times you visit and the date and time of your visits and the average amount of time you spend on our site. Sometimes we may also be able to identify the application or device you’re using to browse our site, the operating system, mobile network (including carrier name and phone number) and even the interaction of your apps, browsers, and devices with our site.
Personal Data & Information You Give Us
Of course, you may voluntarily choose to provide us with personal information. Personal information is information you provide to us that personally identifies you (e.g., your name, e-mail address or any other data that can be reasonably linked to such information by Simantel). For example, you give us personal information when you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, receive e-mails or other communications from us, or when you send us e-mails, information or other content. You might also give us personal information when you respond to an online survey, fill out forms or use certain features and functions we may provide on our site. This type of personal information typically includes data such as your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, company or other details which identify you personally.
In addition to all the information we may collect, as described above, we may also collect information about your activity on our site. For example, the words you search, the pages, videos, content or other materials your browser opened or selected. Sometimes your location can be determined, with differing degrees of accuracy, through your IP address, GPS, sensor data from your device, even from things near your device, such as Wi-Fi access points, cell towers and Bluetooth-enabled devices. Of course, these kinds of geographic data depend on the settings of your device – and some devices allow you to turn location settings on or off.
How We Use Information
There are a number of purposes for which we use information we collect:
- To maintain and improve the performance and content of our site;
- To provide services in response to your requests, whether newsletters or bulletins you have subscribed to or for processing and responding to words you enter to search our site;
- To interact with you directly and respond to your inquiries and keep in touch regarding Simantel and if you contact us, we’ll keep a record of your request so we can help solve any issues you may be having;

- To administer contests, promotions, surveys and research online;

- To protect Simantel, visitors and users of our site, which includes detecting, preventing and responding to fraud, abuse, and any security risks (e.g., SPAM, malware or malicious code) that could harm us, visitors or other users of our site or the public.
Although we may provide information in aggregate form (that will not enable identification of any individual) to third parties for marketing, advertising, research or other uses, we do not share, sell, rent or lease personal information to anyone, unless we have your permission, or are required by law to do so or under the following limited circumstances:
- If we have your consent (and we will always ask you for explicit and specific consent to share sensitive personal information);
- If required by law or regulation or other legal reasons, including times we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosure of that information is reasonably necessary to meet legal, regulatory, judicial or other enforceable government requests or requirements;
- Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or other technical issues;
- Protect against damage, harm or violations of any rights, property or safety of Simantel, other visitors or users of our site and the public as required by law;
How We Collect Information
In addition to the information you voluntarily may give us, we use various technologies to automatically collect and store information. Technologies such as cookies, pixel tags, local storage (browser web storage or application data caches) and server logs.
Pixel Tags are a type of technology placed on our site or in the body of an e-mail in that tracks certain activity. Pixel tags often detect when your browser views a site or when you open an e-mail. Pixel tags are often used in combination with cookies.
IP (Internet Protocol) Address is the number assigned to each and every device that connects to the Internet. These numbers are usually assigned in geographic blocks. An IP address can often be used to identify the location from which a device is connecting to the Internet.
Application Data Cache is a type of storage on your device that can improve application performance by allowing content to load faster. It may also enable a web application to run without an Internet connection if the information is stored on your device.
Browser Web Storage enables a site to store data in a browser on a device. When used in "local storage" mode, it enables data to be stored and retrieved, even after a browser has been closed and reopened.
Protecting Your Personal Information
We try hard to keep you and Simantel protected from unauthorized access, modification, disclosure, or destruction of information in our possession or under our control. Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems and who are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive information you provide to us is encrypted via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. Although you should understand it is virtually impossible to guarantee the security of any information transmitted on or through the Internet, we implement a variety of other security measures designed to maintain the safety of your personal information:
- We review our information collection, storage, and processing practices, including physical security measures, to prevent unauthorized access to our systems;
- We use encryption technology to keep your data private while in transit and we may anonymize your information so it cannot be connected to other information about you;
- We restrict access to personal information to Simantel employees, contractors and agents who need that information to process it and anyone with such access is subject to strict confidentiality obligations and may be disciplined or terminated if they fail to meet those obligations
Compliance Is Important
We monitor our systems and if we find something wrong, often reviewing information about what was happening immediately before the problem started will help us identify it and fix it more quickly.
If we receive a written complaint from you, we will contact you and try to resolve your concerns to everyone’s satisfaction. We may also work with appropriate regulatory and data protection authorities and agencies, to try and resolve complaints about any transfers of your data if we can’t resolve it directly with you.
We also comply with certain legal frameworks that apply to transfers of data, such as the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield Frameworks, if and when they apply.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
Protecting the privacy of children is very important to us. We do not specifically market to children under 13 years old, nor do we solicit, collect or maintain personal information from anyone we know is under the age of 13. If we become aware of information unknowingly obtained from someone under 13, we immediately delete that information from our files and records.
Fair Information Practices
In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur: We will notify you via e-mail (if known), if available through our site online or at the last known contact information you gave us, within 7 business days unless we are required by law or regulation to notify you sooner.
You Can Control Your Privacy Choices
We want you to have choices and control over the information we collect and how we can use your information. If you registered, enrolled, subscribed or opened an account with us, you can review and update information such as your name, e-mail, phone number and other contact information, by going back to the registration, enrollment, subscription or account profile page and editing your information.
You can also modify your interests or preferences so that we can improve the content we show or send you and as described below, you can even delete information related to any specific subscription or feature, or all your information if you choose to do so.
Even when you are not on Simantel’s site, you can configure your browser settings to alert you if and when Simantel has set a cookie in your browser. Of course, you can choose to block all cookies from a specific Internet/Web domain or all domains, but if you do, you may not be able to access or use the full functionality of any features or services that rely on cookies to work properly. In addition, some devices have controls can regulate or set what information we can or cannot collect. Your user guide or instructions from the manufacturer should have the details for the devices you use.
Obtaining a Copy; Deleting Your Information
You can ask us to provide you with a digital file containing a copy of your information or, if the functionality is available, you can simply export a copy any time you wish.
You can also ask us to delete your information and cancel any account, subscriptions or enrollment in features or functions available from or in connection with our site. Be mindful that you can choose to delete content from specific services, subscriptions or enrollments or delete all of your content and personal information we have about you.
In some cases, we do retain data for limited periods when it needs to be kept for business or legal purposes, but we will keep it only for so long as necessary for us to comply with those requirements. As you should understand, we also need to be sure your information isn’t accidentally or maliciously deleted without your permission or knowledge, so there may be a delay in our deleting copies in our systems (including backups) to make sure we are following your instructions.
