As a leader...
  • Susan has over 40 years of experience as a writer, editor, strategist, facilitator, trainer and coach 
  • Started as a freelance writer with Simantel in 2008 on the Build the Block initiative that led to the building of the Peoria Riverfront Museum and Caterpillar Visitor Center 
  • Now guides strategy for select clients and helps shape Simantel’s internal practices and consulting capabilities related to leadership development, team culture and change facilitation 
  • Loves collaborating with team members to help them grow, learn and reach their full potential 
  • Earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Illinois State University, holds masters degrees in Human Development Counseling and Liberal Studies from Bradley University and is a Board Certified Coach specializing in leadership  
  • Serves on the board of Mended Hearts Therapy Center in Metamora, where they provide counseling for people of all ages, including equine and pet therapy

Susan is a passionate environmentalist on a personal odyssey to get plastic out of her life (anyone who’s tried will tell you it’s HARD). She adores trees, plants and animals and goes out of her way not to harm any living creature — even bugs. A committed vegetarian, Susan is full-on vegan when she can resist her weakness for cheese.
