Illinois Central College (ICC) wanted to increase enrollment among minority and non-traditional students throughout its territory. Simantel thought: let’s give these students a voice so they can talk about their goals and how an education can help to reach them.

So, we gave the students flip cams and asked them to film themselves and speak candidly about what they want for themselves and their families. All content was posted to a new microsite,, and social channels were created to drive engagement. ICC surpassed enrollment projections and its Facebook page has become a primary communication tool between students and the college.

All current advertising drives to the “My ICC Story” microsite. Early metrics indicate that the social media strategies have been successful in building an online community for ICC. Additional components developed for the campaign include TV spots and billboards, see below.
