Peoria…it’s a beautiful thing

Over the years, Simantel has happily donated its time to working on projects for the local nonprofit organization Keep Peoria Beautiful—its mission is to help improve the environment and help keep our local community looking exactly as it states: beautiful.

Part of the NPO’s efforts includes an annual citywide event—the “Great American Cleanup”—when volunteers gather on a designated day to pickup litter around Peoria. Many Simantelites planned to volunteer for the event, and we decided to design company T-shirts (to be worn the day of the event) to showcase our Simantel team “green” pride.

A few of our employees serve on the KPB board, and wanted to take it a step further: “Let’s develop three T-shirt designs, have people vote on Facebook for their favorite, and for every “like” each T-shirt gets, we’ll donate $1 to Keep Peoria Beautiful.”

We raised over $200 in under two weeks and we also helped drive traffic to both the Simantel and Keep Peoria Beautiful Facebook pages, which each gained dozens of additional fans within such a short timeframe.
