CNG Station Grand Opening

When Peoria Disposal Company wanted to celebrate the opening of a new natural gas fueling station, the company enlisted Simantel to help plan a major open house so that local, state and national dignitaries—including Clean Energy CEO T. Boone Pickens—could get a firsthand look.

Leading up to the event, Simantel assisted with public relations and worked with PDC to design a floor plan and stage that would best show off the spotless facility at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Throughout the venue we strategically positioned several of PDC’s new compressed natural gas-powered garbage trucks, for which Simantel developed the messaging and design.

Pickens and other key industry experts spoke at the event including Caterpillar Inc. CEO Doug Oberhelman, Ameren Illinois CEO Scott Cisel and Congressman Aaron Schock (Peoria Disposal Company President Royal Coulter also spoke). Pickens commended PDC for adopting natural gas along with its purchase of 12 CNG-powered garbage trucks—a move that would reward the Peoria community with cleaner fuel and cleaner air as well as put the city on the clean energy map.

The Texas oil and gas executive was also impressed with something else. Boone frequently makes appearances (he guesses about 100) at the opening of natural gas fueling stations—some in cities much larger than ours, like Dallas and Chicago. “Every one is a big thrill, but this ranks in the top 1 percent,” he said of Peoria’s event. “It’s a great setup.”

Simantel couldn’t agree more. View a selection of our firm’s work and event highlights below.
